With renewable energy and security of supply high on the political and economic agenda for most countries around the world, the market for high voltage interconnections and MV array cables is reported to be growing at a rate of around 7% per year for the next twenty years. Major projects are already planned or in the final
planning stage to connect European countries to the UK for instance. And whatever the size of the project, the major artery for transferring power is ALWAYS the power cable.
Developed in collaboration with world leading cable makers on HV/MV extrusion lines in Europe, Acuity Ultrasonics now offers the ultimate in Quality Assurance to cable manufacturers and cable users world wide.
Online and Offline measurement of cable dimensions & assessment of internal quality has never been so easy
Air voids, metal particles and other materials can also be automatically detected within the insulation layer of the cable. Detection and recording of all features can reduce manufacturing risk, improve decision making in areas
of QA uncertainty and give advanced information on the likelihood of testing success.
Using high speed data acquisition and the most modern big data hardware,
the cables you purchase can be readily scanned along the whole length purchased at intervals of less than 1mm. This resolution of measurement allows Acuity to detect layer variations and internal defects that might normally lead to electrical failure or reduced service life. Your consultants or employees have access to time stamped electronically stored records for each cable purchased.
Automatic detection of all layers and internal features in 16 channels along the total length of production means
that minimal amounts of data stored in an efficient manner are readily available from secure data storage servers. At
the end of a run, a fully detailed report highlighting the diameter and different layer widths as well as main features
found is automatically generated.
Before laying a cable, EVERY JOINT must be perfect. Our Ultra Profilor is mobile and can be transported between development laboratory and jointing bays. and has a higher resolution than our Ultra Screen equipment
